Shelties..

When I was growing up my dad and stepmom had a couple dogs. One was a sheltie and the other a full size collie. Both of these dogs were absolutely amazing to play with and watch as they would chase each other around the house and pretty much knock over everything in sight. They had this rubber bowtie dog toy that they used to play tug of war with for hours on end, literally. At any rate, the sheltie's name was Turbo and with good reason. We'd let him out in the back yard and he would run through the overgrown garden that was full of weeds that were chest high to a ten year old and about an inch in thickness. He'd run through it and knock over every blasted weed in the garden. This solved a big problem for my brother and I as my dad told us to go out and pull weeds. God save the dog!!

We loved that dog but as he got older he began to have hip problems and I found out recently that shelties are prone to that as well as thyroid problems. When he was a pup he would run us for miles on end but when he got older he couldn't really go too far without coming home with a limp that lasted for a few days. He'd sleep alot too afterwards. He was pretty obedient when it came to certain things, but had this nasty habit of getting into food when nobody was looking. I guess dogs are kind of like that eh?

Here's a sight to check out that is great for training and obedience. Thanks and come back soon!!
